In a nutshell, an 'eBay fees calculator' is an online tool that aims to help eBay sellers accurately calculate their net profits from their eBay sales based on the following:
here are various eBay seller fees to be aware of
The listing fee
eBay also calls this an “insertion fee.” It's non-refundable, and the amount varies depending on which (if any) eBay shop subscription you have.
The final value fee
This fee is charged when you make a sale and is calculated on a percentage of the final value fees paid on the total cost of the item, including postage and taxes.
International selling fees
This fee may apply if you want to sell cross-border and is calculated on the total amount of each sale. By this, eBay means item price, handling charges, postage, taxes, and what it calls “any other applicable fees.”.
Transaction fees
For example, if you use PayPal as your chosen payment method, you'll be charged between 1.4% and 3.4% + 20p per transaction.
Shop subscriptions
There are 3 levels: Basic, Featured, and Anchor. Prices start from £27/mo in the UK.
VAT
Value Added Tax is a business tax applied to selling most goods and services in the EU and UK. VAT rates vary per country and member state. For example, in the UK it's 20%.
At this point, it's worth highlighting that several other factors impact selling costs
Item category
Item category: You're charged final values fees by category + 30p per sale. For example, if you sell clothes, shoes, and accessories, the fee is 11.9% + 30p per sale.
Auction format
If you pay monthly eBay Shop fees, you can list items auction-style. Each Shop subscription provides free 7-day auction listings for a set amount of products.
Listing enhancements
You can opt to boost listings with what eBay calls 'optional listing upgrades.' You may have to pay additional fees for certain features like adding a subtitle, a reserve price and etc.
Aside from the fees referenced above, here are some further eBay fee examples and selling scenarios based on products you might wish to sell on eBay
Dolls and bears
eBay charges 10.9% of each sale + 30p*
Garden and patio items
eBay charges 10.9%*
Computer tablets, laptops, printers, and scanners
eBay charges 6.9% of the portion of the total amount the sale up to £1,000 (calculated per item) and 3% after that.
eBay Premium Service Listing
If eBay deems you one of its top sellers, you'll benefit from 10% on final value fees for Premium Service listings. This discount applies to the variable portion of the final value fee for your Premium Service listings - not the 30p per order fixed fee.
Fees for promoting your listings
For more product visibility, eBay allows you to create a promoted ad listing campaign. These fees depend on the type of campaign you run. You may be charged per ad click, by a percentage after your listing sells, or an upfront flat fee.
Such products are available via Spocket’s integration with AliExpress using its AliScraper tool Where selling scenarios are concerned, although you've read about listing at a set price and selling at auction, here are a few other ways you can sell on eBay and the associated fees you'll incur.
If you refund a buyer (see below), then eBay will return your final value fee minus the 30p transaction fee - but only if you’ve refunded the buyer in full.
The eBay help center offers in-depth advice about different fees for business sellers. You should familiarize yourself with all these before proceeding, including costs if you register as a Shop seller and weighing up whether it’s worth the additional outlay.
Suppose an eBay seller is involved in a dispute with an eBay buyer. If you're found to be responsible for a chargeback to the buyer, eBay will levy you £14 per dispute. As an eBay seller, you can choose whether to accept returns if a shopper changes their mind. But, if you accidentally send the buyer a damaged or incorrect item that doesn’t match the listing description, you have to accept to process a return.
eBay states that you can cancel a listing in certain situations. For example, if you discover the products you're selling are damaged. If you cancel or remove a listing before the item is sold, there's no final value fee, no 30-cent fee, and no penalty.
